Our How-To videos were a series of short tutorials designed to support panelists as they began to imagine and create multimodal presentations for Distribute 2020. In the spirit of conviviality, we sought panels that are not only intellectually generative and visually and sonically innovative, but also equitably accessible.

Subtitling · Subtitulación

How do I start subtitling? Amara is a project of the Participatory Culture Foundation, a US based non-profit that supports the creation of inclusive online video content. To use the free version of their captioning software, click on subtitling platform and choose the free platform version. Then follow the prompts to upload your video and begin captioning! The only potential downside is that Amara makes all videos and subtitles public. If this is an issue for you, we suggest you 1) subscribe to their Enterprise platform or 2) use your video editing software (Premier Pro, Final Cut, et cetera) to create captions.
