Unbounded Obligations: A Multimodal Exploration of Distributed Response-Ability In a Time of Rapid Political Change · Obligaciones ilimitadas: Una exploración multimodal de la responsa-habilidad distribuida en tiempo de cambio político rápido
Thinking with distribution and redistribution foregrounds systemic understandings of relationality in contemporary social, cultural and environmental worlds. At the same time that distribution and redistribution draw permeable boundaries, they carve out shifting, novel forms of being and belonging. They trace new morals, political agendas, and ethical practices that redefine existing social and ecological obligations.
This group of visual and sociocultural anthropologists working from five countries across three continents will engage diverse, multimodal research projects to investigate how distributed response-ability complicates or reinforces assumptions and practices that compose patchy, shifting, multiple totalities (Graeber 2001; Tsing 2015). We will also ask what this means for the theory (and practices) of change that anthropology disseminates in the world (Tuck 2009).
Pensar con la distribución y la redistribución pone en primer plano la comprensión sistémica de cómo se relacionan los mundos sociales, culturales y ambientales contemporáneos. Al mismo tiempo que la distribución y la redistribución dibujan límites permeables, crean formas de ser y de pertenecer novedosas y cambiantes. La distribución y la redistribución trazan nuevas morales, agendas políticas y prácticas éticas que redefinen las obligaciones sociales y ecológicas existentes.
Este grupo de antropólogos visuales y socioculturales que trabajan en cinco países situados en tres continentes, participará en diversos proyectos de investigación multimodal para investigar cómo la responsa-habilidad distribuida complica o refuerza los supuestos y prácticas que componen totalidades irregulares, cambiantes y múltiples (Graeber 2001; Tsing 2015). También preguntaremos ¿qué significa esto para la teoría (y las prácticas) del cambio que la antropología difunde en el mundo? (Tuck 2009).
